The Scottish League Cup was played for the 5th time in 1950/51 . The Scottish Football League Cup, which was played among the participants of the Scottish Football League , began on August 12, 1950 and ended with the final on October 28, 1950 in Hampden Park in Glasgow . As the defending champion, FC East Fife started the competition that had prevailed against Dunfermline Athletic in the previous year's final . In this year's final, Motherwell FC and Hibernian Edinburgh met . Both clubs reached the league cup final for the first time. Well won the final 3-0 with goals from Jim Forrest , Archie Kelly and Willie Watters . In the same season Motherwell reached the cup final , which was lost to Celtic Glasgow . In the Scottish Cup was Well ninth. The Hibs Edinburgh were for a total of 3 times in the club's champion .
