Sommerau is a district of the town of Feuchtwangen in the Ansbach district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The village is located in a valley on the Dettenbach, a right tributary of the Sulzach , surrounded by grassland with a few trees and arable land. Approx. 0.5 km further north and further west are wooded elevations of the Sulzachrandhöhen, a section of the Frankenhöhe . In the north the forest area is called Rothbergholz. The state road 1066 leads to Reichenbach (3 km west) or the B 25 at Feuchtwangen (0.9 km east). A community road leads to Esbach (0.6 km south).

history

On September 28, 1322 Kunrat Wanbuch von Grawe sold his farm in Sommerau to Feuchtwangen.

Sommerau was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Feuchtwangen . In 1732 the place consisted of 8 estates with 10 teams (2 courtyards, 1 courtyard with double crew, 2 half courtyards, 2 small farms, 1 small farm with double crew) and 1 shepherd's house of the municipality. The Feuchtwangen monastery administrator's office was in charge of village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties . At the end of the 18th century the place consisted of 9 properties. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Feuchtwangen .

With the community edict (early 19th century), Sommerau was assigned to the tax district and the rural community of Aichenzell . In the course of the regional reform , Sommerau was incorporated into Feuchtwangen on January 1, 1972.
