Ehrang / Quint is one of the 19 districts of the city ​​of Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate . In terms of area, it is the largest district in the city and includes, among other things, several residential areas that are somewhat demarcated due to their geographical location (Vordere and Hintere Heide, the former military settlement “Auf der Bausch”).

The district is divided into the districts Ehrang and Quint and is located in the northeast of the city on the left bank of the Moselle . In Ehrang the Kyll flows into the Moselle, in Quint the Quintbach . Ehrang / Quint is the northernmost district of Trier. Neighboring districts are Pfalzel , Biewer and separated by the Moselle Ruwer / Eitelsbach .

Trier-Ehrang / Quint includes residential areas that are remote on the first elevations of the Eifel . Two outdoor residential areas are the Vordere Heide (227 m. Above sea level) and Hintere Heide (243 m. Above sea level) residential areas in the Meulenwald , which were created in the 1970s, with the sports facilities in between, including the SV Ehrang football field. A Middle Heath was also planned in the 1970s, but never implemented. Another outlying residential complex is the former military settlement on the Bausch (251 m above sea level).

The name Ehrang comes from a Celtic leader named Irus, who chose the area of ​​the mouth of the Kyll as a settlement because of its favorable location, which was named after him Yranc or Irancum. An important Celtic trade route leads there over the Kyll. The Romans later built a bridge at this point and erected monuments and sanctuaries nearby.

The name Quint comes from Roman times and is derived from its location on the fifth milestone (ad quintum lapidem) along the Roman road from Trier to Andernach . 1346 Ehrang received under the later German Emperor Charles IV. , The town charter to Frankfurt law. Trier-Ehrang is connected via the B 53 to Schweich and Trier, as well as via the B 422 to the B 51 and thus to Bitburg . The Ehrang Moselle bridge forms an important link in the Trier bypass.
