Weitendorf is a village and a cadastral municipality in the market town of Wildon in the Leibnitz district in the Austrian state of Styria .
Weitendorf was also an independent municipality until the end of 2014 , but was merged with the market town of Wildon as part of the municipal structural reform in Styria . The new municipality continues the name Wildon. The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG.

Weitendorf lies between the rivers Kainach and Mur at the southern end of the Kaiserwald in southern Styria .

On January 1, 1969, the community of Kainach near Wildon was incorporated. Since then, the community has consisted of two cadastral communities (area: as of December 31, 2017):

history
The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.
In 1970 the Trans Austria gas pipeline was laid and a third line was added in 2003/2006. The valve station for feeding the south-east pipeline (SOL) to Slovenia is located in the district of Kainach; the compressor station is located in Lichendorf, an upgrade from around 2003/2010.
Since 2009 the community together with the communities Hengsberg, Lang , Lebring-St. Margarethen , Stocking and Wildon the small region Kulturpark Hengist .

The municipal coat of arms, awarded on May 1st, 1994, has the following blazon :
- "In a black shield an Iron Age openwork golden trapezoid, in it a deer striding between foliage."
It is derived from found objects covered with bronze leaves.
