Richard Pearis was born in Ireland in 1725, the son of George and Sarah Pearis, who were Presbyterians of considerable affluence. The family immigrated to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia when Richard was ten, and by 1750, Richard owned 1,200 acres of land near Winchester, where he lived with his wife Rhoda and three children.

By 1753, Pearis was trading with the Cherokee Nation; and in partnership with Nathaniel Gist, he opened a trading post near present Kingsport, Tennessee. Shortly thereafter, Pearis was in South Carolina trading among the Cherokees, where he fathered a son, George, by a Cherokee woman. "An orator of rude, savage eloquence and power," Pearis gained favor with Virginia governor Robert Dinwiddie; and during the French and Indian War, Pearis led a company of Cherokee warriors and served under British General John Forbes when he retook Fort Duquesne. At the conclusion of the war, Pearis became Indian agent for colonial Maryland.

In 1770, Pearis and another member of the frontier gentry, Jacob Hite, forged letters from Cherokee leaders, including Oconostota, declaring the Indians’ willingness to cede land to the colony of Virginia. Pearis also claimed a deed from the Cherokee of twelve square miles in the area that is now Greenville County, South Carolina. An Indian interpreter, one John Watts, wrote the British Indian superintendent, John Stuart, that Pearis was “a very dangerous fellow who will breed great disturbances if he is let alone, for he will tell the Indians any lies to please them.”

With the help of an Indian ally, Saluy, Pearis secured approval of his land grant from the chiefs at Chota, apparently in exchange for the cancellation of their trading debts. But in 1772, Stuart complained to the governor of South Carolina that Pearis had gained his title by plying the Indians with liquor. The governor then urged Stuart to prosecute Pearis for violating a 1739 statute that forbade British citizens to own Indian land. Meanwhile, Pearis had begun to sell the land to other whites.

FIFA 09 is the latest installment of Electronic Arts' FIFA Series of football video games. Developed by EA Canada, it is published by Electronic Arts worldwide under the EA Sports label. It has been given a release date of 14 October 2008 for North America and has been already released on 2 October 2008 in Australia and 3 October in Europe.

The demo was released on 10 September for PC and on 11 September for 3 and Xbox 360. The only difference between the PS3 and Xbox 360 demos is the stadium, PS3 features the FIWC Stadium while the Xbox 360 version features the new Wembley stadium.
In November 1773, the circuit court at Ninety Six found Pearis guilty of holding Indian land, and he surrendered his deed. But the following month he secured another deed from Cherokee leaders granting his son George more than twelve square miles of land—most of which George then conveniently transferred to his father.

Different versions of covers for FIFA 09 have been unveiled. All covers features Ronaldinho with different players for each region: North America version features Guillermo Ochoa and Maurice Edu, German cover features Kevin Kurányi, Italian cover features Daniele De Rossi, Irish cover features Richard Dunne, French cover features Franck Ribéry, and Karim Benzema, Portuguese cover features Ricardo Quaresma, Spanish cover features Gonzalo Higuaín, Swiss cover features Tranquillo Barnetta and UK and Australian covers feature Wayne Rooney. After the North America cover was already presented, Maurice Edu signed for Scottish team Rangers F.C. and because of that the cover was changed to feature Maurice in a US National Team jersey and Ronaldinho is changed to wearing his Milan jersey, so that a club's jersey was featured.
Sometime after 1770, Pearis, his family, and their twelve slaves began to clear a hundred acres of land near the falls of the Reedy River, at the heart of modern Greenville, South Carolina, where they planted grain and orchards on a plantation Pearis called “Great Plains.” Pearis built “a substantial house” and a store as well as a grist and sawmill.

Improvements
In 1775, Pearis sought an appointment as a patriot commissioner to the Indians, and when the post was given to another, Pearis became a Tory captain. On December 12, 1775, patriot Colonel Richard Richardson captured Pearis and eight other Tory leaders. Pearis was kept in irons at Charleston for nine months, after which he made his way to British West Florida. Pearis's house and plantation buildings were burned by South Carolina forces in July 1776.
It has been stated in an interview with David Rutter that there are over 250 improvements on the game.

Among the improvements in the new FIFA are improved responsiveness that allows for quicker release of the ball, greater urgency in the off-the-ball running, a new jostle system that takes into account the strength of the players when going shoulder to shoulder and subtle animations that enable players to take first-time shots.
Pearis continued to serve with Loyalist forces during the American Revolution in what amounted to a civil war among frontiersmen in the backcountry. After the fall of Augusta, Georgia to the patriots in June 1781, Pearis was captured, and General Andrew Pickens saved Pearis's life "by putting him in a boat and sending him down river, away from the angry soldiers who would have killed him." Pearis’s land was confiscated by the state of South Carolina, and Pearis spent his remaining years as a planter in the Bahamas, He was more than amply compensated by the British government for South Carolina lands that, arguably, he had never legally owned.

Another of the edition's biggest changes is a completely revamped collision system, which calculates speed, weight and power when the players collide, as each player will have their own individual strength and power statistics depending on their body characteristics.
Paris Mountain State Park, north of Greenville, takes its name from Richard Pearis.

New goalkeeper technology has also been added which allows for better positioning, better reactions to saves and faster recovery after a save has been made.

An improvement from FIFA 08 is the weather and time. Rain and snow can be switched on and off before games, which affects whether players wear gloves. Games can be played during daytime, night and dusk, however in the latest installment the game eventually turns to night as the second half starts adding to the realistic feel of evening matches.

If a player is substituted during half time, the replacement player is seen warming up and running on to the pitch. However if a substitution is made during play, the players are seen approaching each other. The score of the game has an effect on this, if a player has scored then he waves to the fans and claps before being substituted, however some players react badly to being substituted for example, if they are having a good or disappointing game, or if they are a key player in the squad. Captains have more of an effect in the team. Choosing a squad member who has good captain qualities for example from the players stats under leadership will help the balance of the team.

FIFA 09 will also include a '10 vs. 10' Be a Pro online game and the offline Be a Pro Mode will last for a maximum of 4 seasons.

FIFA 09 will also feature user-controlled player celebrations, like in UEFA Euro 2008, for the first time. This, however, is on current generation consoles only.

Adidas Live Season
On 20 August 2008, EA unveiled the new Adidas Live Season feature that will dynamically update player form and attributes each week in-game based on the player's last game to reflect real-world ups and downs. Live Season is a premium service that will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC and covers six leagues - Barclay’s Premier League, La Liga BBVA, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Serie A and Mexican Primera Division. Gamers have access to one league of their choice as a free trial that runs from the moment they activate the service to the end of the 2008-2009 season, while purchasing extra leagues will cost £4.99 (PSN)/560Microsoft Points each, or all six leagues can be purchased for £12.99/1600 Microsoft Points.

FIFA 09 Clubs
On 10 September, EA unveiled the new online game mode for consoles Xbox 360 and 3, called FIFA 09 Clubs. Through FIFA 09 Clubs, gamers can form or join clubs and field their strongest team when competing in Be a Pro: 10 vs 10 Online Team Play.

FIFA 09 Clubs will also determine the best virtual team in the world. Clubs will be ranked and placed in a division. They will be relegated and promoted to different divisions based on their performance during the season. FIFA 09 Clubs will also feature special Club Managers to scout rival players and then recruit them to join their club.

Leagues and Teams
There are over 500 teams and 30 Leagues in the game, as well as around 40 national teams, the same number as in FIFA 08. The most complete list of leagues and teams was given in copies of the game which have already been delivered to some customers who made pre-orders.
<!--The list of leagues features the flags, which represent the country of the league (not the clubs, participating), and features the names of the leagues as they are shown in the game - UK version. Do not edit this list, it's final and confirmed.-->

FIFA 09 is the latest installment of Electronic Arts' FIFA Series of football video games. Developed by EA Canada, it is published by Electronic Arts worldwide under the EA Sports label. It has been given a release date of 14 October 2008 for North America and has been already released on 2 October 2008 in Australia and 3 October in Europe.[1]

The demo was released on 10 September for PC[2] and on 11 September for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[3][4] The only difference between the PS3 and Xbox 360 demos is the stadium, PS3 features the FIWC Stadium while the Xbox 360 version features the new Wembley stadium.

Different versions of covers for FIFA 09 have been unveiled. All covers features Ronaldinho with different players for each region: North America version features Guillermo Ochoa and Maurice Edu, German cover features Kevin Kurányi, Italian cover features Daniele De Rossi, Irish cover features Richard Dunne, French cover features Franck Ribéry, and Karim Benzema, Portuguese cover features Ricardo Quaresma, Spanish cover features Gonzalo Higuaín, Swiss cover features Tranquillo Barnetta and UK and Australian covers feature Wayne Rooney. After the North America cover was already presented, Maurice Edu signed for Scottish team Rangers F.C. and because of that the cover was changed to feature Maurice in a US National Team jersey and Ronaldinho is changed to wearing his Milan jersey, so that a club's jersey was featured.[5]

Improvements

It has been stated in an interview with David Rutter that there are over 250 improvements on the game.[6]

Among the improvements in the new FIFA are improved responsiveness that allows for quicker release of the ball, greater urgency in the off-the-ball running, a new jostle system that takes into account the strength of the players when going shoulder to shoulder and subtle animations that enable players to take first-time shots.

Another of the edition's biggest changes is a completely revamped collision system, which calculates speed, weight and power when the players collide, as each player will have their own individual strength and power statistics depending on their body characteristics.

FIFA 09 will also feature user-controlled player celebrations, like in UEFA Euro 2008, for the first time.[7] This, however, is on current generation consoles only.

On 10 September, EA unveiled the new online game mode for consoles Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, called FIFA 09 Clubs.

Leagues

1Bologna F.C. 1909, Catania Calcio, Cagliari Calcio, Genoa C.F.C., S.S.C. Napoli, U.S. Città di Palermo all feature unlicensed team names, kits and badges.

Stadiums

Here is a complete list of the Stadiums which will feature in FIFA 09 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.[8][9] There are also designated stadiums for clubs in England, Scotland and Australia.[10]

1Juventus F.C. & Torino F.C. have not occupied this stadium for the past two seasons, both play at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino which will not be featured in the game.

Platform Information

Wii version

The Wii version of the game is titled FIFA 09 All-Play and will be launched under EA Sports' new All-Play brand exclusive to the platform.[11] Even though the Wii will have the normal 11 vs 11 football match like the other consoles, a new feature will be introduced, called 'Footii Match', which is a 8 vs 8 football match. The object of this feature is to beat certain teams from around the world and unlock their 'superstar team captain'. This feature is only going to be on the Wii console. For the first time, on the Wii, FIFA '09 will include the manager mode found in the earlier PC versions of the game.

DS and PSP

The PlayStation Portable and DS versions will include a Be a Pro mode for the first time like the other consoles hello bob

PS3 Version

The PS3 exclusive game mode is a built-in FIFA Interactive World Cup. This will enable gamers to track their progress & play games through the game rather than be so website reliant.[12] It was also confirmed that FIFA 09 for the PS3 will be one of the upcoming games that supports rumble with the DualShock 3. In addition, like previous FIFA games, the PS3 version has support for 7-players on the same screen (which was demonstrated in a promo).

PC and PS2

The Computer and Playstation 2 versions will feature a special Tournament Mode, where there will be a total of 61 tournaments, including 42 officially licensed ones, and the player will be able to create their own tournaments.[13]

Soundtrack

The complete FIFA 09 soundtrack was released by EA Sports on August 14, 2008. There will be 42 songs from 21 different countries.[14]
