The 1982/83 season of the 1st division was the 40th regular staging of the top ice hockey division in Czechoslovakia . With 62 points, the army sports club Dukla Jihlava prevailed on 44 match days. For the team it was their ninth Czechoslovak championship title . As bottom of the table, the series champion of the 1960s, Poldi SONP Kladno , rose from the second division.

mode

As in the previous season, the league was played with twelve teams. Since each team played two home and two away games against each group opponent, the total number of games per team was 44 games. Champion became the winner of the main round. The bottom of the table was relegated directly to the respective national championship. Ties were reintroduced after two years.
