Alzen is a French commune with 260 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region (until 2015: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Girons , to the canton of Couserans Est (until 2015: canton of La Bastide-de-Sérou ) and to the community association of Couserans-Pyrénées founded in 2016 . The residents call themselves Alzenois .

geography

Alzen is located about eleven kilometers west-northwest of Foix in the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Nature Park . Alzen is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Nescus , La Bastide-de-Sérou and Montels in the north, Cadarcet in the northeast, Serres-sur-Arget in the east and southeast, Burret and Le Bosc in the south, Montagagne in the west and southwest and Larbont in the northwest.
