André Daina

André Daina (born July 8, 1940 in Buttes ) is a former Swiss football referee and football player.

Daina initially played football for Young Boys Bern and Servette Geneva and made four international matches for Switzerland between 1963 and 1965 . As a referee he headed the 1986 World Cup match between England and Poland and acted as linesman in two other World Cup pairings; In 1984 he whistled the EM game the host France against Yugoslavia. In addition, Daina led the history of the final of the European Cup between Juventus Turin and Liverpool FC in 1985, which became known as the Heysel disaster . He was also the referee of the game between FC Carl Zeiss Jena and AS Roma on that memorable October 1st, 1980, when FC Carl Zeiss Jena achieved the impossible and lost 3-0 in the first leg of the 1980/81 European Cup Winners' Cup a 4-0 win.
