Ľuboš Micheľ
Ľuboš Micheľ (born May 16, 1968 in Stropkov , ČSSR ) is a former Slovak football referee , teacher and manager .
Micheľ has been a FIFA referee since 1994 and is involved in cycling, running and tennis. In addition to his native Slovak, he speaks English, German, Russian and Polish. Michel has been retired since the end of 2008 because knee problems made further missions impossible.
Use in important games
In November 1993 Micheľ made his debut on the international field in the qualifier for the U21 World Cup San Marino - England . In the UEFA Champions League , Micheľ headed three games in the 2001/2002 season, three games in 2002/2003, six games in 2003/2004 and five games in 2004/2005. In the 2007/2008 season he was in charge of the Champions League final. In the 2002/03 season he was in charge of the final of the UEFA Cup . Micheľ led four qualifying games for the World Cup in Germany and the relegation game Switzerland - Turkey (2-0) on November 12, 2005 in Bern .
On October 23, 2008, he ended his referee career due to health problems.
Use in tournaments
Micheľ was a referee at the U-16 European Championship 1995, the U-17 World Championship in Egypt 1997 and the U-21 European Championship 1998 in Romania, where he led the final. In 2002 Micheľ played a game at the World Cup in Korea and Japan . At the 2004 European Championships in Portugal , the two preliminary round games Greece - Spain and Switzerland - France were under his leadership. Ľuboš Micheľ founded the Talent association , which aims to support young Slovak footballers, and was a member of the Slovak Parliament ( National Council of the Slovak Republic ) for the SDKÚ-DS from 2006 to 2010 .
Ľuboš Micheľ worked for the Shakhtar Donetsk association, where he was responsible for compliance with regulations at international competitions. He also organized away games and training camps. Since 2015 he has been the sports director of the PAOK FC club from Thessaloniki . There he was able to add to the cup victories in 2017 and 2018 as one of the sporting directors .
