Siegfried Kirschen (born October 13, 1943 in Chemnitz ) is a German football official and former football referee of the German Football Association and the German Football Association . He was in charge of four games in two football World Cup finals and was also a linesman in five games . He was involved in more games in the soccer World Cup finals than any other German referee.

Siegfried Kirschen was initially active as a footballer himself in the youth field , passed his referee examination in 1961, headed 251 games in the GDR Oberliga from 1972 to 1991 and on May 17, 1980 the FDGB Cup final between FC Carl Zeiss Jena and FC Rot -Weiß Erfurt , which ended in the Berlin Stadium of the World Youth in front of 45,000 spectators 3: 1 afterwards .

Siegfried Kirschen was the chairman of the referees committee in the former Frankfurt (Oder) district technical committee. Since it was founded in 1990, he has been President of the Brandenburg Regional Football Association , member of the board of the Northeast German Football Association (NOFV) and - since summer 2008 - Chairman of the NOFV Referee Committee. He works as a DFB referee coach in the Bundesliga and as an international referee observer . In March 2018, he announced that he would no longer run for re-election as association president. Jens Kaden was elected as his successor as association president in September 2018 .
