Luigi Agnolin (born March 21, 1943 in Bassano del Grappa , † September 29, 2018 ) was an Italian football referee .

In addition to 226 appearances in Italian football in Serie A , he also led international compulsory and friendly matches, such as the 1986 and 1990 World Cups . Among them were the games Yugoslavia - Colombia (1: 0), USSR - Hungary (6: 0), Argentina - Uruguay (1: 0), in which he dealt a total of seven yellow cards , and France - Germany (0: 2).

As a consequence of the Italian football scandal in 2006, Agnolin became the new (provisional) head of the Italian referee association AIA as the successor to the resigned Tullio Lanese . As a first official act, he demanded the suspension of ten referees involved in the scandal and eleven linesmen . With the help of legal experts and a psychologist, he wrote an “ethical code ” comprising 35 articles , which in future had to be signed by all active football referees at the beginning of a season.
