Battlefield 4 (abbreviated: BF4) is a first-person shooter that was developed by the Swedish computer game manufacturer DICE and published by Electronic Arts on October 31, 2013. Gameplay

With Battlefield 4 there are many changes compared to its predecessor, for example an amplifier can now be attached in addition to an optical sight on a weapon. Multiplayer

Battlefield 4's multiplayer mode includes three playable factions: the United States , China, and Russia . Battlefield 4 is the first game based on the Frostbite 3 engine , it is supposed to show the animations of the characters even better. The game initially had glaring bugs that even led to crashes for many players. The balance of the weapons is considered insufficient, the data protocol between client and server (netcode) was often criticized as being too slow. The latter led to a lot of criticism of DICE, the netcode of Battlefield 4 was a deterioration compared to the netcode of Battlefield 3 , although this was already one of the biggest criticisms of the predecessor. The large number of problems meant that DICE had to postpone the implementation of Mantle until the end of January 2014 in order to have more resources to fix the problems.

In March 2014, the newly formed DICE LA took over support for the game. Netcode and many game mechanics have been extensively revised with many large and small patches. The "Community Test Environment" in particular met with broad acceptance and helpfulness among players. Here, players could install and play trial versions of Battlefield 4 . Many players gave feedback, which was then partially taken into account for patches of the main game. (As of April 2016).
