Breitbrunn am Chiemsee (officially: Breitbrunn a.Chiemsee ) is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim and the seat of the Breitbrunn am Chiemsee administrative community .

Geographical location
The municipality is located in the region of southeast Upper Bavaria .
Located on the north bank of the Chiemsee on the moraine hills of the Chiemsee glacier of the last Ice Age, Breitbrunn also has the longest shoreline of all neighboring communities. The village is located 25 km from Rosenheim and Traunstein . After Bad Endorf and Prien am Chiemsee are both 10 km, for Bundesautobahn 8 (junction Bernau Chiemsee ) 14 km. Breitbrunn is poorly developed in terms of traffic.

history
Until the 19th century
Breitbrunn am Chiemsee is demonstrably one of the oldest settlement areas on the Chiemsee. About 6000 years ago people lived here on the north bank of the Chiemsee.
Breitbrunn belonged to the Burghausen Rent Office and the Kling District Court in the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .
From the Urfahrn peninsula , King Ludwig II had himself transferred to Herrenchiemsee for his inspections - the Königstrasse from the Wolfsberg district to Urfahrn still shows this today.

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 1,249 to 1,542 by 303 inhabitants or 24.3%.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
According to official statistics, there were 16 employees in the field of agriculture and forestry, 105 in the manufacturing sector and twelve in the trade and transport sector at the place of work. In other economic areas, 129 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were a total of 390 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There were three companies in manufacturing and four in construction. In addition, in 1999 there were 25 farms with an agricultural area of 499 hectares, 386 hectares of which were permanent green space.

The nearest train station is the Prien am Chiemsee intercity stop on the Rosenheim – Salzburg railway line , about eight kilometers (road distance) southwest of Breitbrunn. Breitbrunn am Chiemsee is connected to the regional traffic of Upper Bavaria by bus route 9520 . The bus line connects Breitbrunn am Chiemsee with Prien am Chiemsee, Rimsting , Gstadt am Chiemsee , Seebruck , Chieming and Traunstein and its Traunstein train station .
