Coiserette is a municipality in the French department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .
geography
Coiserette is located at 650 m , about six kilometers south-southwest of the city of Saint-Claude (as the crow flies). The farming village extends in the Jura , in the deeply cut valley of the Tacon, between the heights of the Combe Mathieu in the west and the Hautes-Combes in the east.
The area of the municipality of 5.91 km² covers a section of the French Jura. The area is traversed from south to north by the Tacon , which feeds its water to the Bienne . The valley, which is a maximum of two kilometers wide at its upper edge, is sunk like a canyon into the plateaus of the Hautes-Combes and is more than 500 m deep on the northern municipal boundary. The upper valley slopes are very steep and are criss-crossed by ledges (resistant limestone layer). In the west, the community area extends to the wooded plateau of Combe Mathieu ( 1060 m ). The eastern border runs in sections along the Tacon. In the south it extends over the eastern slope of the valley to the Hautes-Combes, on which the highest elevation of Coiserette is reached at 1090 m . The municipality is part of the Upper Jura Regional Nature Park (French: Parc naturel régional du Haut-Jura ).
Neighboring municipalities of Coiserette are Villard-Saint-Sauveur in the north, Coyrière and Les Moussières in the east, La Pesse and Les Bouchoux in the south and Larrivoire and Saint-Claude in the west.
history
Since the High Middle Ages, Coiserette and Coyrière belonged to the property of the Saint-Claude monastery. After the separation from Coyrière, Coiserette became an independent municipality in 1790. It does not have its own church.

With 52 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) Coiserette is one of the smallest communities in the Jura department. After the population had decreased markedly in the first half of the 20th century (237 people were counted in 1886), only minor fluctuations have been recorded since the early 1960s.
Economy and Infrastructure
Until well into the 20th century, Coiserette was primarily a village characterized by agriculture , especially cattle breeding and dairy farming, as well as forestry. Even today, the residents live mainly from their work in the first sector. Outside the primary sector there are no jobs in the community.
The village is off the major thoroughfares near a departmental road that leads from Saint-Claude to Saint-Germain-de-Joux . Another road connection is with Coyrière.
