Nanchez is a French municipality with 806 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the canton of Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux in the Arrondissement of Saint-Claude .
It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2016 through the amalgamation of the previous municipalities of Chaux-des-Prés and Prénovel , of which only Prénovel received the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Chaux-des-Prés .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the Commune nouvelle was expanded by also integrating the communities of Les Piards and Villard-sur-Bienne , both of which were given the status of a Commune déléguée.
