Lac-des-Rouges-Truites is a commune in the French department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Lac-des-Rouges-Truites is located at 940  m , about 17 kilometers south-southeast of the city of Champagnole (as the crow flies). The scattered settlement community extends in the Jura , in the north-east of the vast plateau of Grandvaux, east of the Lemme , at the north-west foot of the forest heights of the Forêt du Mont Noir.

The area of the 19.69 km² municipal area covers a section of the French Jura. The north-western part of the area is occupied by the Grandvaux plateau (an average of 920  m ). It shows only slight differences in relief and consists mainly of meadow and pasture land. Large parts of the area have no surface watercourses because the rainwater seeps into the porous calcareous subsoil. In some hollows, bog areas were able to develop, and east of the village is the eponymous Lac des Rouges Truites , which is around 2 hectares in size, in a bog depression sealed by layers of clay . It is drained to the northeast to the river Saine . The north-western border runs on the ridges of the Bois du Ban (up to 960  m ). To the southwest, the community area extends into the Lemme valley, around 60 m lower. This river forms the western boundary.

In the south-east, the municipality extends over an approximately 150 m high step on the densely wooded plateau of the Forêt du Mont Noir . This impassable area is characterized by parallel ridges and troughs with no drainage above ground in between. At 1181  m , the highest point of Lac-des-Rouges-Truites is reached here. The karst features , such as cart fields and sinkholes, are characteristic of the plateau . The municipality is part of the Upper Jura Regional Nature Park (French: Parc naturel régional du Haut-Jura ).

The scattered settlement Lac-des-Rouges-Truites consists of several hamlets, farm groups and individual farms, including:

  • Les Martins ( 890  m ) on a hill east of the Lemme
  • Sous la Côte ( 915  m ) on the plateau at the foot of Mont Noir
  • Les Thévenins ( 942  m ), church village, on the hill west of Lac des Rouges Truites
  • Le Voisinal ( 932  m ) on a hill north of the Lac des Rouges Truites
  • Le Maréchet ( 912  m ) in the valley of the outflow of the Lac des Rouges Truites, at the foot of Mont Noir

Neighboring municipalities of Lac-des-Rouges-Truites are Fort-du-Plasne and Foncine-le-Bas in the north, Chapelle-des-Bois in the east, Morbier in the south and Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux in the west.
