← German championship 1935/36
In the 30th German championship season 1936/37 , the reigning German record champions 1. FC Nürnberg competed against the most successful team in recent years, FC Schalke 04 - a new edition of the finals of the 1934 season .
The Gelsenkirchen team won as they did in 1934 and successfully took revenge for the semi-final defeat they suffered against the same opponent in the previous season. For Schalke it was the 3rd title win in their 4th final, for the Nuremberg it was their 9th final. Schalke then also won the Tschammer Cup in 1937 in the winter of the same year and thus got the double .
