The Wuppertal residential district Fleute is one of nine quarters in the Langerfeld district of the Langerfeld-Beyenburg district .
geography
The 1.14 km² residential area is bordered in the north by the Elberfeld – Dortmund railway line , in the east by the city limits to Schwelm and in the south by Schwelmer Strasse . The Langerfeld Center joins in the west . The Bundesautobahn 1 spans the residential area in the north-south direction at two bridges, the viaduct Langer field and the Schwelmetalbrücke . At the intersection of national road 7 which is located with the A 1 junction Wuppertal-long field. The street In der Fleute crosses the residential area in an east-west direction.
The fully built-up residential area has only a small part of residential development. Most of the area is taken up by the Langerfeld industrial park , which was built on the area of the former Langerfeld airfield .
history
In Langerfeld, women and children were already making lace on cushions in the 17th century . Around 1750, the mechanical production of laces succeeded. According to tradition, the first braiding machine , called belt gear here, is said to have been invented in Langerfeld in the Fleute.
The Langerfeld airfield, which was located east of Dieselstrasse, was operated from 1926 until shortly after the Second World War and is connected to the aviation pioneer Gottlob Espenlaub .
