The company Freiburger Orgelbau Hartwig and Tilmann Späth deals with the building of organs and is based in March (Breisgau) .
Company history
The organ builder Alois Späth (born June 16, 1825 in Ennetach, † July 7, 1876 in Ennetach) founded an organ building workshop in Ennetach in 1862. His sons Franz Xaver (* November 22, 1859 - October 5, 1940) and Albert (* February 15, 1866 - March 8, 1948) continued to run the company under the name Gebr. Späth Orgelbau . The sons of Franz Xaver, Karl and August (* September 4, 1908, † September 25, 1979) took over the business activities.
In 1964 August and his son Hartwig separated from the Ennetach-based workshop and transferred the Freiburg branch to his own company, Freiburger Orgelbau August Späth, master organ builder . The company has been called Freiburger Orgelbau Hartwig and Tilmann Späth OHG since 2008 , and is under the management of Hartwig Späth and Tilmann Späth in the 4th and 5th generation.
The training of the current senior manager Hartwig Späth began in 1958 with an apprenticeship with his father August Späth. From 1959 to 1965 Hartwig Späth studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Munich , which he graduated with the academic degree "Diplom-Wirtschaftsingenieur". In 1970 he passed the master's examination as an organ builder. He has been the sole owner of the company since his father's death.
Tilmann Späth (born May 13, 1984 in Freiburg) passed the master's examination in Ludwigsburg in 2008 after training as an organ builder at Rensch and Gesellenjahren with his father. Since then he has been a co-owner of the company. Since 2015 he has been on the advisory board of the Association of German Organ Builders .
