The handball Bundesliga 1981/82 was the fifth of the single-track seasons and the 16th season of the highest German division in men's handball in the history of the handball Bundesliga . The season began on September 5, 1981 and ended with the last game day on June 12, 1982.

14 teams played for the German championship. The first in the table on the 26th matchday was German champions in 1982. Reinickendorfer Füchse , TuSpo Nürnberg and OSC Dortmund were promoted to the new season . In addition, the DHB Cup was played for the eighth time.

The German champion in 1982 was the team from VfL Gummersbach for the eighth time in the club's history .

TuSpo Nürnberg , OSC Dortmund and SV Bayer 04 Leverkusen had to relegate from the handball Bundesliga to the 2nd Bundesliga , which was newly introduced for the season .
