Hattencourt is a northern French municipality with 291 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier and belongs to the canton of Roye .

geography

The town, traversed by the A1 Autoroute and the LGV Nord high-speed rail line , bordered to the west by the disused Chaulnes- Roye railway line , is around 6.5 km south of Chaulnes at the intersection of the D132 and D161 departmental roads. There is a French military cemetery (Nécropole nationale) in Hattencourt.

history

The place is first mentioned in the 14th century. In 1636 it was destroyed by the troops of Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, vicomte de Turenne . A second destruction took place through bombing in the First World War . In the interwar period, Hattencourt was rebuilt. The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
