Center of Moreuil

Moreuil is a French municipality with 3980 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montdidier and is the capital of the canton of Moreuil . The city is located on the Avre River .

history

Moreuil is on the Roman road that connects Compiègne and Montdidier with Amiens . At around 800 a castle is reported. In the Middle Ages, a commander of the Order of St. John was built, which was destroyed in 1752.

In 1965 the place Castel was incorporated.
