A great battle ensued after which Beuvraignes, Amy and Verpillières were sacked. The soldiers stole the cattle and sacked . In 1469 Verpillières had 42 feux (households), about 189 to 210 inhabitants.

In 1522 the Habsburgs attacked the region and burned Solente , Ognolles , Roiglise, Beuvraignes, Verpillières and other localities. The population fled into the woods, and those who did not hide in time were massacred.

In 1636, Gaston de Bourbon, duc d'Orléans Roye took over for the French in the course of the Franco-Spanish War (1635-1659) . The French army camped in Verpillières for four days. In the short time, the harvest was destroyed and 12 houses burned down. In 1653 the population had to hide from the Spanish troops in the forest and in the surrounding villages. From 1661 to 1664 the population was decimated by the plague . In 1698 Verpillières had 200 inhabitants.

The winter of 1708/1709 was very cold. On April 30th and May 15th, 1756 earthquakes shook the town.

In the Ancien Régime , from the Middle Ages to the French Revolution (1789–1799), the Seigneurie Verpillières was divided into several fiefdoms . In 1586 there were five fiefdoms.

The French Revolution ended the feudal system, reorganized the localities and introduced a regular census . In 1793, Verpillières received the status of a municipality under the name Verpilliers and in 1801, through the administrative reform under Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) under the current name, the right to local self-government .
