La Neuville-Sire-Bernard ( Picard : L'Neuville-Sire-Bernard) is a northern French municipality with 285 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier , is part of the Communauté de communes Avre Luce Noye and belongs to the canton of Moreuil .
Toponymy and Geography
La Neuville, known as Novavilla in 1146, is located on the right bank of the Avre around 4.5 km south-southeast of Moreuil on the D935 departmental road (formerly Route nationale 35 ). It is connected by a bridge with braches on the opposite bank of the river. The river valley is partly swampy. The current municipal area also includes the area of Quiry-le-Vert and part of Saint-Aubin-en-Harponval, which was abandoned after a fire in 1715.
history
The rule of La Neuville was dependent on the Abbey of Corbie until it was sold to Bernard de Moreuil in 1229, from whom it took over the suffix Sire Bernard. The community was largely destroyed in the First World War. She received the Croix de guerre 1914–1918 as an award .
