Hangard is a northern French municipality with 124 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier , is part of the Communauté de communes Avre Luce Noye and belongs to the canton of Moreuil .
Toponymy and Geography
The name of the community is derived from the Germanic person name Hano and the term gardo (garden).
The municipality in the Santerre countryside is almost entirely in the north of the Luce on the D76 departmental road, around 7 km northeast of Moreuil. In the south, Hangard extends almost to the Départementsstraße D934 (former Route nationale 334 ), in the north almost to the Autoroute A26 . There are two military cemeteries in the east and north of the community.
history
Prehistoric finds were made in the hangard. In the 12th century, Foulques Lehardi was the lord of Hangard. In 1362 viticulture is mentioned in the community. In 1523 the Saint-Martin church was built. The community, which was destroyed in the First World War in April 1918, was awarded the Croix de guerre 1914–1918.
