Arvillers ( Picard : Arvili) is a northern French municipality with 778 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier , is part of the Communauté de communes Avre Luce Noye and belongs to the canton of Moreuil .

geography

The municipality in the Santerre countryside is located south of the generously developed departmental road D934 (former Route nationale 334 ) from Amiens to Noyon around 11 km northwest of Roye on the departmental road D54. With the former municipality of Saulchoy-sur-Davenescourt attached in 1965, it extends in the south to the Avre .

history

Stone Age objects and the remains of two Gallo-Roman villas were found in the municipality.

In 1653 the village and the church were sacked by Spanish troops.

The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
