Villers-lès-Roye ( Picard : Viler-lès-toe) is a northern French municipality with 274 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier , is part of the Communauté de communes du Grand Roye and belongs to the canton of Roye .

geography

The municipality in the Santerre countryside is around 5 km west of Roye on the D54 departmental road and is bounded by the Avre in the south and the D934 departmental road (formerly Route nationale 334 ) in the north.

history

The village was devastated during the siege of Roye in 1653. It was destroyed again during the Hundred Days Offensive during the First World War in August 1918 . The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
