I'll Get You ( English ; "I will get you") is a song by the British band The Beatles , which was released in 1963 on the B-side of the single She Loves You . It was composed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and published under the author's name Lennon / McCartney .

background

251 Menlove Avenue

John Lennon and Paul McCartney composed I'll Get You at Lennon's aunt Mimi Smith's house at 251 Menlove Avenue . I'll Get You is based half on the musical ideas of Lennon and McCartney. Lyrically, just like She Loves You , it often contains the word Yeah , which was then associated with the band in the early days of the Beatles.

The Beatles added I'll Get You to their live repertoire.

admission

I'll Get You was recorded on July 1, 1963 at London's Abbey Road Studios with producer George Martin . Norman Smith was the sound engineer for the recordings, his assistant was Geoff Emerick . It is not documented how many takes the Beatles recorded, as the master tape is considered lost.

The song was mixed on July 4, 1963 in mono by George Martin. A stereo version of I'll Get You does not exist, instead a so-called "fake stereo version", which was mixed from the mono version, appeared on the album The Beatles' Second Album in the USA . This version was then used in Germany for the album The Beatles Beat .

The working title of the song was Get You In The End .
