The men's long jump at the 2002 European Athletics Championships was held on August 9th and 11th, 2002 in Munich's Olympic Stadium.

European champion was the Ukrainian Oleksij Lukaschewytsch . He won before the Croatian Siniša Ergotić . Bronze went to the Spanish vice world champion from 1999 Yago Lamela .

qualification

August 9, 2002

25 participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 7.95 m. Three athletes reached or exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the nine next-placed athletes to twelve jumpers (highlighted in light green). In the end, 7.73 m had to be achieved for participation in the finals.
