Spreading Hanauer rafters
The list of coats of arms with Hanau rafters includes all official coats of arms that have the heraldic figure of the rafters in the colors of the coat of arms of the County of Hanau (three red rafters on a gold background) as a component. The coat of arms was after the death of the last Hanau Count Johann Reinhard III. 1736 integrated into their coat of arms by his heirs Hessen-Kassel and Hessen-Darmstadt .
In areas that formerly belonged to the county, the Hanauer rafters have been included in numerous municipal coats of arms in Hesse , Rhineland-Palatinate , Alsace , Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria . In the Middle Ages , the core area of the county was initially in the northern Spessart region and southern Wetterau . The Counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg, who inherited the rule of Lichtenberg in northern Alsace, were responsible for the wide geographical distribution of the coat of arms .
A number of representations of corresponding coats of arms have been preserved on and in historical buildings.

The coat of arms is supposed to reflect the coat of arms of Hanau-Lichtenberg, but it contains a number of errors: The rafters are rotated by 180 °, the middle field was never white and the colors of the bars at the bottom left are red and white.
