The elevation of the terrain in Eichsfeld is between 140 m in the Werra Valley near Werleshausen or in the Rhumetal near Lindau and around 550 m on the Gobert in the border area of the Eichsfeld district to the Werra-Meißner district . The highest mountains in the Eichsfeld are located on the limestone plateaus of the north-western edge plates of the Thuringian Basin ( Goburg 543.4  m above sea level ) and the Ohm Mountains ( Birkenberg 533.4  m above sea level ).
