The Baroness von Löwendal created the basis for the further development of the city in 1725 with the establishment of a hammer mill, the Lauchhammerwerk. She thus became one of the first women entrepreneurs in Niederlausitz.

Niemann is considered one of the most successful Lauchhammeran gymnasts of the early years. He started playing sports at the age of 4 and was already in charge of a children's gymnastics team at the age of 12. He later lived and worked in Frielendorf , Hesse , where he made great contributions to apparatus gymnastics there. The local gaume championships in 1933 were held in his honor in Frielendorf. In 1941 he came to Lauchhammer or Bockwitz for work-related reasons, where he was also involved in gymnastics and did development work. From 1950 to 1953 he was section chairman of the BSG activist Lauchhammer . From 1958 he took over as a trainer for children’s gymnastics in Lauchhammer-Ost.
