The 1983/84 Maltese Premier League was the 69th season in the history of the Maltese top football league . FC Valletta became champions for the twelfth time .

Compared to the previous season , the newly promoted FC Birkirkara and FC Żabbar St. Patrick replaced the relegated Sliema Wanderers and Żebbuġ Rangers . Birkirkara was first class again since the 1979/80 season , Żabbar for the first time since the 1972/73 season .

First, a single round was held. Then the first four teams played for the championship and the other four teams to stay in class. Both groups played a triple round. There were two points for a win, one point for a draw and no point for a loss. In the event of a tie, a decision game was played for the championship and the relegation places. The last two placed had to relegate to the First Division.
