Nové Mesto nad Váhom (German Neustadt (l) an der Waag or Waag-Neustadtl, Hungarian Vágújhely ) is a city in western Slovakia .
geography
The city is located in the middle Waag Valley (northern Danube hill country ) about 20 kilometers north of Piešťany and just as far south of Trenčín . Geographically, the place is located between the Little Carpathians in the west, the White Carpathians in the northwest and the Inowetz in the east.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1253. This was a letter from the Hungarian King Béla IV. , Who thanks the city for the loyalty in the battles against the Mongols .

The town of Nové Mesto nad Váhom is located on the Slovak D1 motorway ; The “old” State Road 61 and State Road 54 leading to the Czech city of Veselí nad Moravou also run through the city. It is also on the Bratislava – Žilina railway line ; The Nové Mesto nad Váhom – Veselí nad Moravou railway begins from here .
