Olszynka ( German  Waldriede ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the Gmina Korsze ( urban and rural municipality Korschen ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Olszynka is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 15 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

Waldriede was founded on May 11, 1896 as the Vorwerk of the Guites Seeligenfeld (today Błogoszewo in Polish ). It belonged to the district of Rastenburg in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1905 it had 70 inhabitants.

Until 1945 Waldriede was incorporated into Seeligenfed. The small estate with Vorwerk that existed in Waldriede in the 1920s comprised 265 hectares and was owned by Karl William . He sold the estate in 1928, divided into several lots. The land was partially settled. The manor house, built in 1896, is adorned with clinker brick walls and ledges. It is private property today.

In 1945, the entire southern was East Prussia in consequence of the war in Poland transferred. Waldriede, which received the Polish name form "Olszynka", was now also affected. Today the village is the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish Sołectwo ) and as such a place within the urban and rural community of Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . In 2011 Olszynka had 140 inhabitants.

Until 1945 Waldriede was parish in the Evangelical Church of Paaris ( Polish: Parys ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of Korschen (Polish: Korsze ) in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today, on the Catholic side, Olszynka belongs to the parish of Parys in what is now the Archdiocese of Warmia , and on the Protestant side to the parish of Kętrzyn in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Olszynka is located on a side road that branches off from the Voivodship Road 590 in Korsze and leads via Błogoszewo (Seeligenfeld) to Warnikajmy (Warnikeim) . The nearest train station is Korsze on the Białystok – Ełk – Korsze and Poznan – Toruń – Olsztyn – Korsze lines .
