Tajikistan took part in the 2000 Summer Olympics in the Australian metropolis of Sydney with four athletes, two women and two men, in two sports.

After 1996 , it was the Asian state's second participation in the Summer Olympics .

Khurshed Kasanov carried the flag of Tajikistan during the opening ceremony at Stadium Australia .
