Radka Kahlefeldt (born November 7, 1984 in Jablonec nad Nisou as Radka Vodičková ) is a triathlete of Czech origin who competes for Australia today . She is U23 European winter triathlon champion (2006), European duathlon champion (2008) and Olympic athlete (2012).

Career

Radka Vodičková spent her childhood together with her sister, who was three years her junior, in an industrial city in the Czech Republic. When her father took a job as a tennis coach on the border between Austria and Switzerland, her mother moved with her when she was seven years old. Two and a half years later they moved to Jablonec nad Nisou , where Vodičková u. a. Cross-country skiing, mountain biking, swimming, racing cycling and running. As a teenager, she joined a triathlon club in the region.

In the Czech Republic, Radka Vodičková started for the Brno elite club Ekol Team, studied sports science at Masaryk University in Brno and was a member of the Czech national team.

U23 European Champion Winter Triathlon 2006

In March 2006 she became the U23 European Winter Triathlon Champion in Italy.

Since 2008 Radka Vodičková, like Daniela Ryf , belonged to the Swiss junior elite team Wildcats Swiss Triathlon Team . B. win the Uster Triathlon and the Züri Triathlon .

European Duathlon Champion 2008

In 2008 she became the European duathlon champion on the short distance (10 km running, 40 km cycling and 5 km running), after having won the title of runner-up the previous year. In the same year Radka Vodičková started in the German Bundesliga for the Krefeld Kanu Klub and won silver at the European Cup in Schliersee. She also competed in Spain in 2008 and 2009 for the Catalan club CN Reus Ploms and was able to win the Duatlón Villa Madrid , for example .

In addition to ITU World Cups and the ITU World Championship Series , Radka Vodičková also competed successfully in other competitions: In December 2009, she won the Powerman Malaysia and in 2009, 2011 and 2012 the Laguna Phuket Triathlon .

2012 Summer Olympics

Since 2012 she has also competed in races over half the Ironman distance (also middle distance or Ironman 70.3 : 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running). At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she finished 20th. In 2014 she finished sixth at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships and in September 2016 she finished ninth in Australia.

In April 2017 she came second in the first Ironman 70.3 Liuzhou .

Radka Kahlefeldt won the 2019 World Challenge Series ; next to the Belgian Pieter Heemeryck for the men.

Private

Radka Kahlefeldt grew up in her place of birth Jablonec nad Nisou in the north of the Czech Republic, later lived in Hellikon in Switzerland and since May 2017 in Australia. She has been married to the Australian triathlete Brad Kahlefeldt (* 1979) since December 2016 . In July 2017, the pair announced on social media that they were expecting offspring in early 2018 and their daughter was born in January.
