Rosina (Hungarian Harmatos - until 1907 Roszina ) is a place and a municipality in the Okres Žilina of the Žilinský kraj in northern Slovakia . The number of inhabitants on December 31, 2009 was 3,011 people.

geography

The community is located in the Žilinská kotlina ("Sillein Kessel") in a valley of the Rosinka brook . The center of the village, at an altitude of 408  m nm , is seven kilometers from Žilina .

history

The place is mentioned in writing for the first time in 1341 and until 1848 belonged to the estate of the Strečno Castle .

1979–1990 Rosina, like the neighboring municipality Višnové, was a district of Žilina. In the past the inhabitants were engaged in agriculture and forestry, today some of them work in factories in Žilina.
