Swedish Athletics Federation
The Swedish Athletics Federation ( Swedish Svenska Friidrottsförbundet - SFIF ) is the umbrella organization for all athletics clubs in Sweden.
The association, based in Solna , was founded on October 30, 1895, making it one of the oldest professional sports associations within the Swedish Sports Association . Originally the association founded under the name Svenska Idrottsförbundet was supposed to cover all sports and therefore initially organized state championships for various sports. Around the turn of the century, however, various special associations emerged, so that the association ultimately concentrated on athletics. This was also reflected in the name given when the association gave itself its current name in 1950.
