The 2008-09 snooker season was a series of snooker tournaments that were part of the Main Tour . In addition to titles and prize money, there were also world ranking points to be won in eight tournaments. There were also two invitation tournaments in which no points are awarded.

Compared to the previous season, the number of ranking tournaments has increased by one. In order to do justice to the increasing importance of the snooker sport in Asia, the Bahrain Championship was the first tournament in the Middle East. In the invitation tournaments, the Malta Cup and the Pot Black Cup were omitted, instead the Jiangsu Classic took place for the first time .

The season began on June 4, 2008 with the Jiangsu Classic and ended on May 4, 2009 with the World Championship Finals .
