It belongs to the Arrondissement of Loches and the Canton of Amboise . Its inhabitants are called the Salvinaciens . The municipality is a member of the Communauté de communes du Val d'Amboise .

Souvigny-de-Touraine is about 30 kilometers east of Tours . The neighboring municipalities of Souvigny-de-Touraine are Chargé in the north and northwest, Mosnes in the north and northeast, Vallières-les-Grandes in the east, Chissay-en-Touraine in the southeast, Chisseaux and Chenonceaux in the south, and Civray-de-Touraine in the southwest , Amboise to the west and Saint-Règle to the west and north-west.
