Chenonceau Castle above the Cher

Chenonceaux is a French municipality with 351 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Indre-et-Loire in the region of Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Loches and the canton of Bléré . It is located about 25 km east of Tours on the right bank of the Cher .

  • Chenonceau Castle - without an "x" at the end; According to tradition, the difference in the spelling comes from the time of the French Revolution , when the owner at the time, Madame Dupin , wanted to move away from the place by omitting the letter.
