Charnizay is located on the Aigronne River . The commune borders on Saint-Flovier to the north, Obterre to the east, Azay-le-Ferron (point of contact) to the southeast, Bossay-sur-Claise to the south, Le Petit-Pressigny to the west and La Celle- Guenand . In addition to the main settlement, Charnizay also includes the hamlets of Belletière, Limeray, La Tanchonniere, Saint-Michel, La Cornetterie, Asnière, Le Champ and L'Ormeau.
