Tell Me What You See ( German  : “Tell me what you see” ) is a song by the British band The Beatles , which appeared on their fifth studio album Help! has been published. It was composed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and published under the author's name Lennon / McCartney .

background

Tell Me What You See is mainly based on the musical ideas of Paul McCartney. The lyrics of the song were influenced by a religious quatrain that hung on the wall of John Lennon's aunt Mimi's home.

Tell Me What You See was featured in Help! written but rejected by director Richard Lester .

Tell Me What You See was not included in the group's live repertoire in 1965.

Tell Me What You See was recorded on February 18, 1965 in London's Abbey Road Studios (Studio 2) with producer George Martin . Norman Smith was the sound engineer for the recordings. The band recorded a total of four takes , with the 4th take being used for the final version. The recordings were made between 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. During this recording session, the song If You've Got Trouble was played and before that between 3:30 and 5:15 p.m. the song You've Got to Hide Your Love Away .

The song was mixed on February 20, 1965 in mono and on February 23, 1965 in stereo .

On February 26th, 1987 the album Help! on CD in Europe (USA: July 21, 1987), in a digital new stereo mix made by George Martin in 1986.

On August 12, 1964, the ninth Beatles album Help! which includes Tell Me What You See . In Great Britain the album was released on August 6, 1965, there it was the fifth Beatles album.

In the United States, Tell Me What You See was released on June 14, 1965 on the ninth album Beatles VI there .

In Germany, which appeared in September 1965 EP The Beatles Forever , on the Tell Me What You See is included.

In December 1965 an EP entitled Tell Me What You See was released in France .

On October 5, 1965, the single You're Going to Lose That Girl / Tell Me What You See was released in Japan .
