University of East London campus

The University of East London (UEL) is a large public university in London .

The facilities are located in the districts of Stratford , Barking and in the Docklands directly at the Royal Albert Dock . The university is considered modern and has many international collaborations. In 2011 about 28,000 students were enrolled .

In 1970 the North East London Polytechnic was founded, later the name was changed to the Polytechnic of East London . The university has only had the status as such since 1992, after technical universities were elevated to the rank of university by a change in the law.
