Authon is a French municipality with 721 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Vendôme and is part of the canton of Montoire-sur-le-Loir (until 2015: canton of Saint-Amand-Longpré ). The residents become Authonois .

geography

Authon is about 32 kilometers north-northeast of Tours and about 33 kilometers west-northwest of Blois an der Brenne . Authon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Prunay-Cassereau in the north, Saint-Amand-Longpré in the northeast, Villechauve in the east, Neuville-sur-Brenne in the east and southeast, Le Boulay in the south and Monthodon in the west.
