Castel del Monte is an Italian commune in the province of L'Aquila in the Abruzzo region and has (as of December 31, 2019) 444 inhabitants. The municipality is located about 27 kilometers east of L'Aquila in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park , belongs to the Comunità montana Campo Imperatore-Piana di Navelli and borders directly on the provinces of Pescara and Teramo .

Castel del Monte is a member of the I borghi più belli d'Italia association (The Most Beautiful Places in Italy).
