action
Became a multimillionaire through the US comedy series Seinfeld , Larry David lives with his wife (played by Cheryl Hines ) in Pacific Palisades , an affluent district of Los Angeles . He is successful, has good friends and a nice house.
In a mixture of retold events and fictional elements, each episode depicts Larry David's everyday life in specific, socially critical nuances, sometimes completely trivial, but also shockingly honest. All American cultures and the misunderstandings in their communication are poked fun at with accuracy and depth. In particular, the Jewish-American culture, which is the background of Larry David himself. The similarities between Larry David and George Costanza (played by Jason Alexander ) from Seinfeld are striking , which is due to the fact that he served the character as a model.
Larry David describes himself more as a neurotic and the opposite of his character in the series. He also stated that playing the series character was very therapeutic for him.
For the episodes there is a very detailed script regarding the content and course of the conversation, the dialogues themselves are improvised by the actors according to these guidelines.
Cast and dubbing
The German-language dubbing of the first five seasons was created by the dubbing company Blackbird Music Studios . The dialogue was directed by Dennis Schmidt-Foss in the first four seasons , and Christoph Cierpka in the fifth.
Due to the change of company, there were many line-up changes from the sixth season on. The series has since been dubbed by the Arena Synchron company , directed by Gerrit Schmidt-Foss and Cay-Michael Wolf . The dialogue books for the first eight seasons were written by Rebecca Völz and Sabine Sebastian , from the ninth season onwards Theodor Dopheide and Manuel Doerr .
