Diamonds is a song by Sia Furler , Benjamin Levin, Mikkel S. Eriksen, Tor Erik Hermansen from 2012. It was written for the Barbadian singer Rihanna and extracted from her seventh studio album Unapologetic . The single premiered on September 26, 2012, during the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show . Diamonds is a mid-tempo pop ballad that uses electronic and soul music. The song features drums, heavy synthesizers, 1980s backbeat with “light orchestral elements and consciously electronic rhythms”. Lyrically, Diamonds is more positive and represents a departure from the issues of unhealthy relationships that can be seen mainly on some of Rihanna's previous singles.
Diamonds ranked number one in Germany, Austria, France, Poland, Scotland and the United Kingdom. In the United States, the song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, the Hot R & B charts and the Hot R & B / Hip-Hop charts in 2012 , making it her 12th number one hit in the US . The single has already been sold over four million times in the USA and has been awarded four times platinum. In the UK, Diamonds Rihannas is the fourth single , after Only Girl (In the World) , Love the Way You Lie and We Found Love , to have sold more than a million copies. The singer is the only female artist in the UK who can claim this record . Diamonds ranked 7th in Germany's year-end charts. In 2014, Josef Salvat released a cover version that was used in a Sony TV commercial and made it to the UK, German and French charts.
