Ecques ( Flemish : Hescha ) is a French municipality with 2139 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Omer and the canton of Fruges (until 2015: canton of Aire-sur-la-Lys ). The inhabitants are called Ecquois .

geography

Ecques is located about nine kilometers south-southeast of Saint-Omer on the Lauborne . Ecques is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Heuringhem in the north and northeast, Quiestède and Roquetoire in the east, Rebecques in the south and southeast, Clarques in the south and southwest, Inghem in the west and Helfaut in the northwest.
